Hoppy Easter Everybunny! :)

Happy Easter
Matt was naughty this year, so the Easter Bunny left him a real *treat* in his hat! No candy for him! He got a rock, a potato, some kleenex with Easter Bunny boogies in it (jelly bean/rainbow colored of course!) a cracked egg, and a chocolate Munchkin (it looked like a poo ball!) LOL

Hannah felt bad for her daddy, and gave him some of her candy, and told him he better be good so the EB will bring him some toys and candy, too! :) I hope the pep talk worked. . .I guess we'll find out next year! Matt should learn to hide his hats on the night before Easter.
The trail of eggs. . .
leading to Hannah's loot!
Oops, these were out of order. Here's Matt's "Easter Basket" I bet you are all jealous of his loot!
The eggs. . .strategically placed by the Easter Bunny, leading to Hannah's Easter basket. . .here they quietly sit on cold tile floor, living out their final hours in the dark hours of the morning. . . anxiously awaiting Hannah's awakening so they may be scooped up and placed carefully in her basket :) (or, not so carefully placed in her basket. . .CRUNCH! CRACK!)
They look so peaceful, don't they? Alas, their peace was short lived. . .before they were gathered up by Hannah and thrown into her basket, I caught Howie knocking them around and rearranging the trail. Hmmmmm. Perhaps he was upset that HE didn't get a basket and was trying to throw Hannah off the trail to her loot? Or maybe he just likes playing Egg Soccer :)
Hannah's loot!
Miss Bed Head

Howie wanted to help, but he does not have posable thumbs and had lots of trouble picking up the eggs
Look how happy she is awaiting the egg hunt at church! Can't you just FEEL the positive energy? Her patience is just overwhelming. . .
Seriously, are they ready YET?!?!?! How long does it take for all the kids to get their baskets over here so we can start? I'm WAITING!
Awww, MOOO-OOOM! C'mon! Tell them to HURRY UP!
On your marks. . .get ready. . .get set. . .
GO!!!

Her basket was filled in about 2 minutes! A big improvement over last year's time :) And yes, she saved an egg or two for the other kids :)

After church, we had the family over for dinner. . .our first holiday dinner in the new house :)

Old Granny wearing Hannah's Easter bonnet :) (yes it fits, Hannah has a giant head and wears hats large enough to fit adults. . .and possibly small elephants or bears :)

Coming back for seconds of chocolate cake

All the sugar has absolutely NO effect on Hannah. . .none at all! (see video at the bottom of this post)
See? No ill effects of chocolate. Everything looks completely normal here. And she certainly was not hyper or silly. . .not at all!
not.at.all. . .
Sweet moment between Matt and his grandma, caught on camera :) Cute.

Could the sugar have worn off? Is she ready to rest?
*5 minutes later* Yup, NO side effects from the sugar. Good to know Hannah can handle buckets of sugar and act completely normal and calm :)

Running and Jumping
more running and jumping. . .fueled by. . .you guessed it! SUGAR!
Little Miss Energizer Bunny, STILL running. . .

FINALLY after playing in the tub for an hour (with her new playhouse tub toy) Hannah fell asleep :) No chocolate/sugar hangover in the AM. So, all was well :)

Funny conversations with an *almost* 3 year old

Our precious gift from God :)

Hannah dancing in her "toot-toot"

Old popcorn:
Hannah found a really old "tasty" popcorn kernal in the cushion of daddy's chair. . .
Hannah: "Whats this?"
Me: "Don't eat that! It's old popcorn. We don't eat old popcorn"
Hannah: "Just old people eat it?"
Me: (laughing)
Hannah: . . .and puppies!" and she proceeded to find Koda to give her the piece of popcorn, since there were no old people around to feed it to :)

Help:

After daddy brought cotton candy home one evening, Hannah was all excited! Of course, she wanted to eat ALL of it right away. The horrible mommy that I am, I told her she had to wait until after dinner to eat her special treat. Well, that did not make any sense to her, of course. She promptly tried to tell me she was not hungry for dinner!
"That's too bad, because I guess you don't have any room in your tummy for cotton candy, either!"
Well, that was not the response she was looking for. . .so she tried another ploy to get the candy "I just eat the 'cot-and-candy' and THEN eat my dinner, OK?"
Me: "No, it does not work that way. Sorry."

So I put the 'cot-and-candy' on the kitchen counter, towards the back of the counter where it was out of her reach.

A few minutes later, Hannah was observed pushing her little Elmo chair over to the kitchen, stopping just under the counter by the treat. All was quiet for a moment (apparently while she tried to reach the treat with her short little arms, perched upon her "step stool"). . .then she walked up to me and asked:

"Mama, I need help. You find me something so I reach my 'cot-and-candy'?"

Well, I gave her points for sharing her plot with me and for asking for help in breaking my rule! I wish it were always this easy to find out when your child was about to go against your wishes. . .but something tells me this will wear off before she becomes a teenager and she will not be asking me to help her sneak out of the house or help her sneak the car out for a joy ride! :)

Dinner time!

Me: "Here Hannah, I made you some tomato soup."

Hannah: "I don't want tomato soup"

Me: "But you love tomato soup!"

Hannah: "No, I don't like tomato soup."

Me: "Oh, I didn't say TOMATO soup, I said MATER soup! It is Mater's favorite soup! He gave me the recipe, and he told me he wants you to try it."

Hannah: "Mater soup? Oh! I love Mater soup, Mama! I want some."

So, I served her a cup of it, and she polished it off like it was the best soup she ever ate! Complete with commentary about how yummy iy is, and how Mater loves this soup, etc. When she finished, she said: "I finished my Mater soup, mama. Mater and Lightening McQueen be so proud of me!"

Our Gift from God

Hannah: "Mama, who brought me?" (PANIC! I was not at all prepared for such a deep question from Hannah. Not yet! Her way of thinking just amazes me sometimes).

Me: "God picked you out, special just for Mama and Daddy, and then you grew in my tummy"

She seemed satisfied with that answer. Phew! But then she was more curious, and started asking about other people/things, too. Who brought you? daddy? Koda? Howie? the nightstand? her jammies? etc. LOL I hope I properly explained that unlike people and animals night stands and jammies do not have mommy's, and they do not grow in anyone's tummy. LOL

Flowery toots:

Me: "Hannah, I bought you a pretty tu-tu to wear! It's pink with flowers."
Hannah: "where is it?"
Me: "I hung it in your closet"
Hannah: "Oh. You bought me a toot toot? You hung a toot toot in my closet"
She looked REALLY puzzled. . .
So, I explained what a tu-tu was, and explained that it was not a TOOT! LOL

Dreaming:

Hannah was sound asleep the other morning, and we went to check on her before we left for work. . .
Hannah in her sleep: "Happy Birthday, Big Bird"
Awwwww. What a sweet dream she must've been having! It was like we had a window into her cute little dream world at that moment. Awesome.

Pickin' her battles:

I caught Hannah picking her nose at the dinner table while we were all out with friends at a restaurant. I gently pulled her finger out of her nostril and informed her that we don't pick our nose, especially not at the table! A few seconds later, her finger was back in her nose again. I told her again, to please stop picking her nose at the table, explaining that it isn't polite, our friends are trying to eat and don't want to be grossed out, etc. She appeared to be deep in thought for a moment, then matter of factly informed me that: "I ready to go to the car now. I all done with dinner, I just need to go pick my nose in the car."
Well, at least she was thinking about an alternative place to pick her nose in private. . .people do it "in private" at stoplights all the time! And in case you were wondering, NO, I did not take her to the car to pick her boogies.

I love you:

Before bed the other night, I said my usual good night phrases to Hannah, fully expecting to hear her usual responses back to me! But instead I got this:
Me: "Good night Hannah. Have a good sleep. I love you."
Hannah: "I love Grandpa"
Oh well, I guess I rated second that evening . . . But it is really good to know! :)

Funny/cute words and phrases:

"Beasty-bear"=the Beast from Beauty and the Beast

"little Miss Muffin, sat on tuffet, eating her turds. 'long came a fider, and said 'Hey! What's in the bowl?'"

Ask Hannah to spell STOP and she will spell it like this: "S-like a snake-T-O-Peach!" She recites the letter P as Peach! Too cute

policemen: "please men" Hmmmm. . .I guess those are the guys who make sure you are being polite!?!? :)

Best Friends :)

Meet my best friend, Woody! I take him everywhere I go. He and I have been through a lot together.

I take good care of him :) I brush his teeth, take him to go potty, get him dressed, feed him his meals, wrap him up in blankies for his naps, give him medicine when he is sick, and fix his boo boos. Poor Woody is always getting hurt and getting sick. He needs a lot of TLC. Lucky for me, my mommy appears to keep us well stocked with band-aids and so he is always covered. . . literally! For the more serious injuries, like the two times he lost his leg/boot, Dr. Granny performs major surgery (with her glue gun) and Woody is as good as new again! He heals really fast and we are back to playing again. I keep telling Woody he needs to be more careful, but he is a boy, after all.

I carefully apply the band-aids and make sure not to hurt him
What do you mean we're out of band-aids? But I didn't cover all of Woody's boo boos yet!
Time to brush your teeth, Woody
Wearing matching outfits

Taking a snooze together. . .we always sleep together :)

I even take Woody to the doctor (you know, since he is so accident prone and all. . .I can't fix EVERYTHING with band-aids)

"C'mon Daddy, we has to shave our beards!"

I LOVE to shave with my Daddy! After my shower/bath every night, I beg to shave my beard before I get my jammies on. I rub my chin and say "c'mon daddy, we has to shave our beards!" He's such a good sport! Most of the time, he will take the time and do an evening shave, just for me! (He gets up too early in the AM for me to want to shave with him then! I need my beauty rest!)

I used to just watch Daddy shave sometimes, but then one day I decided I wanted to help. Unfortunately, the razor is too sharp, so mommy and daddy wouldn't let me help. Instead, they gave me my own shaving equipment! I get to use the cool whipped cream stuff that smells like perfume, a little shaving cream brush, and I even have my own "razor" (sans the blades of course). Mostly, I skip the actual shave part, and prefer dipping my shaving brush in the water and putting the shaving cream on my face :) It is so soft and smooth, and it smells good!

Daddy lets me help him put shaving cream on his face. I hope we get to do this together forever!

**Mommy's note: well, I certainly hope she doesn't ever actually grow a beard! I don't think she would find one as fun as she thinks they are! Just ask Daddy! I also think that would be a huge cause for concern. . .not many toddlers running around out there sporting beards! Although, I guess there could be a whole community of bearded toddlers we don't know about. . .the beardless toddlers could all be shaving with their daddies, and we would never even know they are among us!

Hey, has anyone ever carded a gnome??? How old is that gnome with the long beard, anyway? I suspect that they could actually be bearded toddlers! Another government conspiracy. . .sure, we never actually SEE any gnomes in society (except for the ones frozen in time in the old lady's yard down the street. . .you know, every neighborhood has a yard that's been gnomed!) But gnomes are well documented in books, so they must exist! All this time, the government had us believing gnomes were pretend little adult people with pointy hats and beards! Come to think of it, I wonder what's under their hats? I bet there is another conspiracy involving those pointy hats, too! Hmmmmmm. . .Sorry, I digress. . .

Anyway, I have a feeling Hannah will come to resent shaving someday. My bets are around the time she reaches puberty and she comes face to face with the never ending attack of the stubble, and she has to start the arduous task of shaving her legs all the time!**

Here Daddy, let me help you

Shaving is truly an art. Your face is the canvas, and the shaving cream is your paint. The more cream and water on the little brush, the better!

See Daddy? I am getting pretty good at this! Let me show you a few brush techniques to get the maximum coverage on your face. . .
Daddy looks impressed! (or is he scared? I am not sure)

You missed a spot, Daddy. . .Daddy makes silly faces when he shaves! :)
Make the brush become one with your hand and glide it ever so elegantly and gently over your cheek. You need to remember to gliiiiiide. Don't just blot it all around. FOCUS! FOCUS! Daddy! Become one with your beard and brush. . .everything will fall into place if you can do that.
I took over Daddy's bigger brush so I could teach him my secrets to avoiding a 5 o'clock shadow. Secret #1: you can never have enough shaving cream and water!
