One of our favorite places to stop in the Boston Public Garden is the duck statues. There is a book called "Make Way For Ducklings" that takes place in this park, and these duck statues are modeled after that book. "Make Way for Ducklings" is a children's book written and illustrated by Robert McCloskey. The book tells a story about a pair of ducks who decide to raise their family on an island in the lagoon in the Boston Public Garden. The statues are a popular place for kids, big and small (some bigger and OLDER than others. . .see below) to come and sit on the ducks :) It is really cute to see all the kids play on them. Hannah was no exception. She is a duck lover, so this was perfect for her! She hopped right on a carefully chosen ducky, and didn't want to get off. So, of course we brought her back again another day as well.
Giddy-up ducky! I see ice cream ahead!
Hey! Ice cream man! One for me, and one for my faithful ducky, please!
What do you think, dad? I bet if we attached a rope to the duck and and the back of your scooter, and you sped off, the duck would come loose and we could take him home with us! There's a bunch of other ducks for people to look at and sit on, they won't even notice!
These duck statues are fun for big kids like my mommy too!
New best friends :)
Ooooo! Mr. Ducky, I see more ice cream! But, keep your beak closed and don't tell grandpa that we already had some ice cream the last time we were here. . .maybe he will buy us some more!
Don't listen to a word he says, grandpa. I've never even SEEN this duck before. . .
